Oral Hygiene
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean in order to prevent dental problems and bad breath. It is important for you to understand that during orthodontic treatment proper brushing and flossing becomes quite a bit more difficult. Braces tend to accumulate food and plaque easily. It has been our observation that patients who consistently maintain excellent oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment show healthy gums and teeth that are free of cavities and de-calcification marks.
Orthodontic treatment proceeds more quickly and with less discomfort because healthy tissues are less sensitive and tooth movement occurs more efficiently.
