Meet Dr. Budi Kusnoto
Dr. Budi Kusnoto is a diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics. He is a tenured professor and Program Director at the University of Illinois Department of Orthodontics. He is an internationally recognized author, lecturer, and researcher who also enjoys teaching, researching, and practicing in orthodontics. Dr. Kusnoto ranks one of the top 10 most cited authors in the past 20 years by AJO-DO (the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics), the most influential peer-reviewed journal in orthodontics worldwide.
Dr. Kusnoto’s knowledge in biomechanics, management of craniofacial deformities as well as computer science is complimentary to his teaching in orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. He has been actively involved in clinical research in the area of temporary anchorage devices (mini-implant, invisible orthodontic appliances, computerized orthognathic-craniofacial surgical imaging, 3D imaging-computerized treatment simulation, and longitudinal digital data mining project).
Dr. Kusnoto is a leader in his local, state and national dental and orthodontic
specialty organizations. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Illinois Society of Orthodontists, and the Chicago Dental Society. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (What is Diplomate of ABO?).
Dr. Kusnoto obtained his master degree in oral sciences and specialty in orthodontics in 1998 from University of Illinois at Chicago and did his fellowship in CraniofacialCenter in 1999. Dr. Kusnoto has been involved in the implementation of digital technology in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His degrees in computer science as well as in the field of dentistry/orthodontics make his contribution significant to this project. Dr. Kusnoto’s knowledge in growth and development of the human craniofacial complex is complimentary to his teaching in the field of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. He is also involved in the implementation of a HIPAA program compliant with a high-level security computer system/digital record system in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Kusnoto’s primary area of interest is in research of 3D Imaging. Much of his work has been published in the refereed journals such as the American Journal of Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Journal of Plastic Surgery, the American Cleft/Lip and Palate Journal, and Forensic Science Communication (FBI-IACI). He is also the author of chapters in textbooks such as Facial Reconstruction (2004), Craniofacial Growth in Moyers Symposium publications (2000, 2002) and numerous others publications. He is also an active member with good standing of American Association of Orthodontists, American Cleft/Lip Palate Association, International Association of Dental Research, Illinois Society of Orthodontist, American Dental Association and IEEE.
Dr Budi Kusnoto also actively involved in research and teaching on the subject of diagnosis and treatment planning particularly in using Bioprogressive principle. He is also involved in the development of the Modern Bioprogressive Web-Portal. Dr. Kusnoto is also involved with patient care at AllCare Orthodontic Center as well as supervising the residents of the Orthodontic Specialty Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
